SNAPSHOT International is the brainchild of Farida @faeriko and Jelena @minnie_rataa - a curator/artist/designer team based in the East Bay, California. Farida hails from Malaysia & Thailand, while Jelena originates from Croatia. We are both true immigrant punks who love traveling, experiencing, and contributing what we can to our beloved punk and hardcore scene - wherever we go, wherever we are.
The concept for SNAPSHOT evolved organically by noticing the influx of passionate people at shows documenting bands and crowds, realizing there is no dedicated platform to showcase or share these special moments in time and history, and have the opportunity to hone their artistic craft, while learning from one another.
Farida was originally inspired to begin this project by her previous work alongside the likes of the iconic Edward Colver @edwardcolver, Murray Bowles @murraybowles & Alison Braun @alisonbraunphoto as the co-founder & curator of @destroyartinc , while Jelena has been photographing bands worldwide in her travels for 5 years.
We are so honored to have the support of the kind @martincrudo and our dear friends @robcoonsphotography, and @matthewkadi to launch this first step and onwards!
Snapshot Vol. 1 Photo Gallery
The first SNAPSHOT event happened on April 28th at Victory Stables in Oakland, CA.
We are thrilled with the turnout and incredibly grateful to have curated such an amazing array of talented photographers from around the world.
Thank you so much to the photographers - iconic Martin Crudo and Rob Coons, special guest Matthew Kadi, the upcoming stars Jelena Skracic and Anni Mackin, and the curator Farida Mazlan.
Special thanks to the volunteers Maksin Puzar, Andrew Baker, James Funston and the venue Victory Stables, Oakland for providing such a perfect location to host a photo exhibition with the capacity for live bands!
Massive thanks to the bands BIG, Ansible and Invocation, with DJs Hellspawn and DJ Danse Prole for keeping the energy loud, and complimenting all the art on the walls with your music.
